Stadsmissionen / Tillskärarakademin
Creating an outfit out of clothes from Stadsmissionens second hand stores, casting a model (classmate) styling hair, make up and directing the shoot. I am the biggest fan when it comes to second hand/vintage, and I loved working with this assignment.
My mind went to the status that is connected to wealth. Never having to think about money, in contrast to receiving money by begging on the streets. How some people have the choice to look and dress however they prefer. But now, looking like you don't have any money is also a trend, the hobo look. Homeless people being celebrated on instagram for their looks...I'd like to think that this is a sign that people are getting more aware of the human worth and how to look beyond money for the true value of people.
So dont waste your money on fast fashion and expensive shit. Go out thrift-shopping and experience the soul and beauty of a preloved and worn-the-shit-out-of leather jacket. Take that walk in someone else's shoes. In this case, ancient traditional Sami handcrafted ones! This model is called Tornenäbben.
Kruxet
My first set design gig was for the Swedish band Kruxets music video "Fiona". They wanted a 70/80's feel to the bedroom of a rock loving young guy, who was also deeply in love with Fiona (member in the pop duo "Rebecca and Fiona"). At SVT warehouse I rented most of the props for this scene.
Studio photoshoot
Found this amazing white 80's overall and I just had to work it! Photos were taken at my studio at Cray Collective, Odenplan in Stockholm.
Environment & Ethics
School-assignment at Stockholms Tillskärarakademi, interpreting "Environment and ethics" by designing and presenting a remake of a white scrub that was handed out to us.
I looked at the internal physiological problems we suffer because of the toxic substances we use during the process of creating fashion. Diseases like cancer are becoming almost plague like, children are born with brain-damage and anatomical defects. How might these toxins affect our DNA in the long run?
I kept the garment white for the clinical feel. Then cut the robe in half and turned it inside out - back and forth, to get the high collar leaning in against the throat with a slight discomfort when worn. The printed size 50 I wanted shown as an indication of how human lives is just numbers and very disposable considering our planets well being. The red wool-thread symbolises blood vessels, and the fragile bobinett skirt brings in a sense of vulnerability to the composition.
Charlotte & Vilja 2005
In 2005, while studying art at Solviks folkhögskola, I met Charlotte, whose looks I found very intriguing. She had a sister that had similar features, and so I asked them if they were up for a photoshoot. This was the first time for me to style and shoot in a studio. The quality of the photos shows the lack of my technical knowledge, but we had such a good time!
Independent studios
A visit at Independent studios in frihamnen Stockholm with Tillskärarakademin. After their presentation and round tour we were offered to play around with the huge supply of clothes and accessories for a while.
What an awesome and inspiring place! This is my classmate Elin Waering styled and then edited differently, to show three different moods that I like originating from the same styling.
